VASCUPP: Connecting Virginia's Colleges and Universities

Have you marketed to VASCUPP lately? VASCUPP, the Virginia Association of State College and University Purchasing Professionals, was founded in 1995 in order "to provide opportunities for Virginia's public colleges, universities and other institutions of higher education to address and share information on matters of common professional interest."

VASCUPP member organizations currently include: The College of William & Mary, George Mason University, James Madison University, Old Dominion University, Radford University, University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Military Institute, and Virginia Tech.

VASCUPP institutions annually host SWaMFest, a major event designed to introduce SWaM firms to higher education purchasing officials.

Its cooperative contract list is currently hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University:

Why You Should Attend Vendor Training

Every company does business differently and this certainly applies to state agencies such as the University of Virginia. It's important to familiarize yourself with purchasing procedures in order to build relationships, to effectively market your business, and to receive prompt and accurate payment.

You could learn about the University's policies and requirements (and peculiarities) through trial and error, but have you considered attending one of the University's vendor training sessions?

Taught by the Director of Procurement Services and the Director of Supplier Diversity, vendor training at the University consists of an in-depth tour of the Procurement Services website, including suggestions on how to use the information offered, as well as a high-level overview of Supplier Diversity and of eVA.

The training session also covers which products and services the University uses, how to better market your business to University buyers and departments, how to improve your bid preparation process, and how to get paid in a timely manner.

Finally, vendor training can be a great way to market your goods or services to other business owners in attendance.

The next vendor training session will occur on September 5, 2007, from 10-11 am at Carruthers Hall in Charlottesville. Click here for more information and to RSVP.
